Rosalind Meryon
Rosalind Meryon became a Christian at the age of 21 while training as a nurse. Her nursing took her into a number of conflict zones
she was in Israel in 1973 during the Yon Kippur war and in Bangladesh during 3 revolutions! Later she spent 2½ years nursing in the British Army. Little did she realise then how well this would qualify her for what God had for her in her current ministry!
Rosalind is married to Richard, who resigned as a Captain in the Royal Navy in order to work for Christian Viewpoint for Men. Then in 2010 they moved to Jerusalem where Richard is now Director of the Garden Tomb. Rosalind is kept very busy working in the garden of the Garden Tomb, taking small tours of people from all nationalities and faiths, where she has the privilege of presenting the gospel before an empty tomb! Other duties include housekeeping, work with the many volunteers who work with the thousands of daily visitors at the tomb and a great deal of paperwork also. Rosalind is learning Hebrew and Arabic in order to be able to converse more easily.
They have three adult children, Rosanna, Iona and David. Rosalind is an active intercessor for the Armed Forces Christian Union, and with Richard, teaches for the Officers' Christian Fellowship in Pennsylvania, U.S.A.
Ministry
For a number of years Rosalind was involved in the leadership of Precepts ministries, UK, and her passion is for accurate and life-changing application of the Scripture. For some time she felt the Lord calling her to be involved in reaching the Sudan and in 2005 the opportunity came for her to travel there with Flame International, and to be involved in teaching the Armed Forces there. Her understanding of conflict situations was invaluable in this place.
As a direct result of this visit to the Sudan, Rosalind became involved with the work in the Rumbek Diocese, carried out by Bishop Alapayo Munyang Kuctiel. Rosalind's Project has three main thrusts:
Training of Pastors
Rosalind is passionate to see pastors properly trained in this country of people who need the hope and joy of the Gospel. The monthly cost of training a pastor is £50 and individual living expenses also around £50 per month. A number of pastors are already being trained as a result of Rosalind’s project and her prayer is that many more will be sponsored by individuals and churches in the UK and elsewhere.
Faith Centre
The project has been responsible for rebuilding The 'Faith' Centre in Rumbek which will provide Christian training, an office for the Bishop and hostel accommodation for those being trained.
Pastors' Salaries
Rosalind's third section of the project is dedicated to Pastor's salaries. One pastor receiving £20 a month can concentrate more on ministry and support his family better. Rosalind's project allows individuals or groups to sponsor an individual pastor for £20 a month.
