Naomi Oliver

Naomi OliverIn 2003 Naomi went to do a month of voluntary work overseas with street children in Uganda with OASIS. She then returned to complete a six month discipleship course with YWAM which took her and a small team to Egypt for three months outreach.

On her return from YWAM she saw a Project Workers post working in a residential hostel for male ex-offenders in Winchester; Langley House Trust. She had an interest in prison work and working with those with addiction problems and applied for the post. She was offered the job and after praying about this decision she sensed God showing her to be obedient to serve Him in the hostel in Winchester.

She has since gone on to do a Social Work degree which she completed in July 2009 with a 2:1.

Since this time, opportunities within the church have opened up for her to be given temporary leadership roles within the Prayer Ministry Team and with the Youth Work within the church.

Naomi writes:

Since September 2009 I have been employed as a Social Worker at Bath Youth Offending Team. This post is for 6-9 months only as it is a maternity cover post and is stretching in many areas. I increasingly recognise the pressure of work load and assessing 'risk' continually which seems to detract from the face to face work with the individuals concerned. My interest in working with the organisation One25 in Bristol, who work with Street based Sex workers, has continued and I am still volunteering on van outreach on Fridays and love this work.

It is my desire to live out my life whole heartedly for Him and recognise increasingly the desire to look back and know I ran purposefully the race and wholeheartedly.
