Jonathan & Helene Tame

The Tame familyIn summer 2009, the Tame family moved back to England after 14 years abroad in missions. Jonathan has joined Michael Schluter in Cambridge to help establish Relationships Global, a ministry that mobilises, trains and connects leaders in different areas of society internationally, to catch the vision for reforming their organisations, institutions or nations based on Relational Thinking. More at www.relationshipsglobal.net.

Helene is helping to develop mission communities at St Barnabas' church in Cambridge (the church the family attends), and at Brookside Church in Reading. These mid sized mission communities are opportunities for the church to creatively seek to extend God's kingdom in the places within the community they meet or networks the individuals are a part of. Those efforts are combined with a mutual commitment to ongoing personal discipleship in the belief that it is only transformed lives that transform lives!

Helene and Jonathan live in Cambridge with their five children: Luke, Esther, Lidia, Danilo and Simi. They are enjoying being at school in English rather than French, but still miss Switzerland!

2006-2009

Jonathan and Helene were based with YWAM in the French speaking part of Switzerland, working with members of Geneva's international community in various capacities. In 2009 Jonathan worked closely with Romanian Christian artist Liviu Mocan to bring a monumental sculpture to Geneva, entitled “invitation/decalogue”. This circle of pillars is inspired by the Ten Commandments and their impact on society. See www.invitationsculpture.com.

Helene was involved with an international church where she developed “Family Matters” which included leading the children's ministry, running the Marriage Course together with Jonathan, and starting a monthly event for dads and their kids. She also had opportunity to encourage the leaders of MOPS (Mothers of Pre Schoolers) and speak at their meetings. Out of this grew an Alpha course for some of the international mums, known as “trailing spouses”!

1995-2006

Over these years the Tames lived in Romania; there were four main focal points to their work:

  1. Developing local Romanian ministries that help the poor and needy
  2. Setting up a crisis pregnancy counselling centre and maternity home
  3. Advocating the biblical worldview as the core of a Christian vision for society
  4. Promoting renewal and discipleship in the majority Orthodox Church
